The White Dog

This is not a serious deviation, more like an embodiment of thought

Conceptual character i've mulled around for quite some time now. I was reading the foreword on my magical creatures encyclopedia (one of which is nice enough that the binding's already falling apart badly ) where it mentions something i found interesting.

"From early times, we find the widespread notion that human beings have a multiple soul, part of which manifests in an animal form. Shamanic traditions hold that in order to live in the most balanced way possible, it is necessary to discover the identity of this animal soul, and meet in in dreams and visions to dance with it in rituals, to wear parts of the animal in question...do what it does,etc"

" Among the Tzotzil- speaking indians of Zinacanan in th...etc... we find the belief that human beings have multiple souls, one of which is called the Chanul. When the ancestors imbue unborn embryos with souls, they also install a shared soul in the embryo of an animal, so that when a baby is born, then an ocelot, or jaguar, or coyote is also born. During childhood, the child discovers the animal with which it shares its soul. This companionship lasts throughout life, which the animal sharing its nature with the human."

'course, i don't believe a smidge of it, but it raises interesting questions. I remember being a little idiot, running around barking, growling, curling up like a dog when i was 4 or 5. I never thought i actualy was one, even though i acted like one, i didn't think that the dog was my sister or anything like that. But it's odd how our minds function at that age. Much more, it brings up how furries see themselves, if that's the way they interpret reality.

Regardless, been reading up on folklore about "The Black Dog", spirits of guardians who cause car accidents, maulings and ghost siteings on the ancient roads of Britan. So, in combo with exhaustion, folklore, and youngin' idiocracy, i made up a sort of OC that embodies more of the odd stuff i used to do as a kid. Just for fun sort of thing. Colors and markings are definitely not certain, it doesn't even have a name. But it's a good excuse to work on my canine anatomy

No eyelids, because even as a kid, i was a night-owl. It doesn't deserve eyelids
